Today i cut the squis band on a Husqvarna 55 jug using a hand tool like Tree Monkey .A 45 mm bolt , a slot cut with a angle grinder and the cutting part made of a Stihl plate file. I made the cutting part, jammed in the slot with a hammer and made that sharp with the angle grinder. It works very well, so Thank you Tree Monkey!.

Mike is that how you made yours?

I have a mini lathe and don't feel comfortable cutting squish. I don't have a mill so how do I make a cutter? Looking for other ideas of stuff on hand with tools I have

On an ms260 im working on i used the wigglesworth tool and just cut down one of the sanding disks to fit the combustion chamber.i still have measure so i can lap the cylinder base. Here comes the glass plate and lapping compound.took me nearly 2 days to lap the heads on my scag a few years ago to flatten them back out.its got some nice compression now.:D

Oh since the disc was 80 grit for the wigglesworth i only slowly spun the drill maybe 10-12 revolutions.didn't want to take much at one time.still have to polish with scotchbrite.

Nice ingenuity guys.

David, love the idea of using an old piston. What could possibly fit better?

I'll be doing this for sure on my next build. Weld a handle to the piston bottom as well.

Do you guys keep the cutter stationary and rotate the jug on it or vica versa?
