Saws are in heated garage ready to go.I love to cut whenever I can.I have a problem though.I trying to drive my new ATV into the house!Thought it would look nice in the room with the stove.It will fit through the front door.But I can't make the turn near the stairs!Naturally it will fit in the garage but the Queen wants her car in it for the winter.What a waste of garage!

I leave the bar and chain on the saws. I just loosen the chain adjuster so the chain isn't pulling on the sprocket, chain kind of just sags on the bar. ....

That's what I usually do also, and I do maintenance before storing them....

Ditto on 'never really stored', empty gas, run dry, slack chain, sit on porch waiting, 10 mins work and ready for more adventure If I gotta coddle it I don't want it, mind you since joining this gang of aficionados I see a collection in my future, albiet a small, utile, army of two or four or.... That is the only time to cut, of coarse if you like to be sweating about 2 minutes into it...

I typicall cut 75% of my wood in those months.....the rest of the year is less busy for me in the woods. It is cooler, and that is the time I get to stick around the house from work. We are slower in the colder months and allows tme to catch up on things from being gone the rest of the year

In Utah, the good trees are 7000' and up. The rest is sage brush and pinions. No access to the trees from mid-November to mid-May, unless you have a snow mobile and don't mind leaving 7 foot stumps. Of course its against the law to gather firewood after November anyway.

I run everything small until it's out of gas, then it goes on the shelf.

If I need it at 2am because of a tree across our roads I just fill it with fluids and go.
