On the 241? I thought these changes were only on the 261.As you have seen the cleaner saw of your pictures is the new updated version of the MS 241 C-M. It has 200 g less weight and 0,1 kW more power compared to the old version. The easiest way to identify which the new version is, is the position of the diagnostic plug. On the old version it is on the left side from the air filter and on the new version it is on the right side of the air filter. There were also several other changes like aluminium screws for the crankcase, a complete new crankcase, other ball bearings and so on.

261c definitely makes more hp per cc ... I agree with that statement ! However just having built one recently I’m at a loss to your “stuffed crank “ statement ... crank looks identical to the 241c and 362c I also recently built (???) It my opinion that although all 3 saws have quad transfers the 241c flows from 1 large port and makes it way from there whereas the other 2 models have 2 transfers in front and 2 in the rear ... this design is superior imho !Intresting topic. The bucking spike looks the easy way to tell them apart. That is likely for weight savings. I have stated it before, the 261 makes more power per cc.
