I am tired of pulling wood when your saw can't handle the timber.

You guys are nuts... I just cut. I have no bias at all, I just found a machine that torques like I want.

Being happy, and content with what you spent your hard earned money on is all that matters. That tired 460 would be a good candidate for a professional overhaul, BB, ported, the works, since you won't be needing it for a while.:greenchainsaw: :greenchainsaw:

I love the jaded comment :rockn: I really love Stihls, I have three of them and they have all been faithfull, well balanced saws. I will even admit my newly aquired 385 feels like a pipe wrench in my hands next to my trusty 460, but it cannot even compete for the QUALITY of power delivery. Oh ya, the 575 is the same way, so spare me on the size difference. I could really care less about who makes what, I am just happy that I found a saw that pulls really hard.
Yes that is why husky's kick but I just bought a stihl blower
I am not bias have no gain as am a user not a dealer Husky saws kick.

Also, you can run the saw for (literally) five to six times longer without cleaning the filter. I was blown away by how absolouty crappy Stihl's filtration really is after experiencing the Husky's.

No I have not, I am really happy with the 385 I just picked up for $909.00 US vs. a new 660 for around $1,150.00. I am just super pleased with the even flow of the power. Super smooth.
Well I have stated this all the time and no body really listens. I ran a 66 for firewood. I cared 2 extra filter to change out every other fills with fuel. So, Lake do not bust me on this they were new filters and had good felts on them. I bought a 385 and love it. I run a 20 most of the time but a 32 is here for the big pasture oaks. Oh the filter cleaning is something else. I was in the habit of checking it all the time to clean it but never had too for about maybe every 2 gallons of mix.
Yeap and they are cheaper to boot!! Have fun. Bottom line is what YOU like not what everyone tells you that you need to like.

LOL.

Man, everyone acts like you just took a big ole crap in all the Stihl Cheerleaders bowl of Cheerios when you posted this thread.

LOL.

I think a 385 is the next biggest saw I would want to get, I want to drive a 32" bar a big better, at least with authority in the high country.

having never run a 385

How would a 7900 stand up to a 385?

I realize that the dolmar is giving up some cubes to the husky but is it a comparable match up?

Based on what I have read earlier, a stock 7900 will likely outcut a stock 385 more times than not - and it is waaaaay lighter.

...but then, there are other factors to consider......

Apples and oranges???????????????

Lets see what we got here:
385 15.4lbs, 6.2hp, $909
460 14.6lbs, 6hp, $1150

Is .8 lbs lighter and less horseys worth $241.00 more, seems like it also makes your wallet .8 lbs lighter:hmm3grin2orange:

$1,150.00 for a Stihl 460??? :jawdrop: I paid less then that out the door for a new 2007 660, 28 " bar, with an extra chain.

Both saws have super high prices:jawdrop: :jawdrop: :jawdrop:
I would not pay $1150 for a 460. Not even $909 for the 385, maybe $400 new and I would.

Everyone has been comparing the 372 to the 7900 for a long time and no one squawked, again 8cc's difference.
And all the specs. that are put out by the Mfg's. ain't worth the paper they're written on.
I say pick up the saw & run it, if you like it, buy it and run the crap out of it.

The max power specs usually are right on, or .1kW off either way, according to the dyno tests by KWF/DLG - but the power band (high and low) are really more important.........
