Hey, I have a car friend just a few minutes North of you in New Boston. He was just over yesterday helping me work on my truck. Good times. :)

Say 'Ya Der to Da U.P. eh!'

Flipped through pretty quick, but.....

Holy wah!

Only one other in the U.P. so far? Must all be out enjoying summer while it lasts. Right now its work and go to the beach, or work and make firewood depending on the weather. Can find some decent shoreline temps on the Big Lake depending on the day/place, but she's a cool one this year! Superior is down over some 14" this year. Seeing some interesting old piers, pilings, and cribbing coming out of the shoreline in various places. Rockhounds dream this year as you can walk along shore that hasn't been seen in some time. This is the paradise we suffer for!

Bring on the 300" of snow.

Traverse City Area

I'm in Lake Ann about 20 minutes west of Traverse City, MI.
"God's Country" they call it.

Northern Wisconsin, but close enough to hit a Yooper with a snowball. Good people up there.

How's she going up der firestop? Holy wah indeed:ices_rofl:

... As for me, The ground has dried up enough to sow some seeds, my Lawn care is caught up. I need to get some projects done around here. So I can start getting my wood supply stocked up.
Life is getting better.

......

That is good to hear!!!

I'm in Washington but got an email a few weeks ago you guys might appreciate!

The national poetry contest had come down to two finalist, a Yale grad and an upper Michigander. They were given a single word and allowed two minutes to come up with a poem containing that word. The word was "Timbuktu".

The Yale grad stepped up to the microphone and said:

"Slowly across the desert sand,
trekked a lonely caravan.
Men on camels two by two,
Destination Timbuktu"

The crowd went crazy ! No way the Yooper could top that they thought.

The upper Michigander calmly made his way to the microphone and recited:

"Me and Tim a huntin' went,
met t'ree whores in a pop up tent.
Dey was t'ree and we was two,
So I bucked one and Timbuktu".

The Yooper won hands down.

Born & "raised" in Dearborn, spent a vapid pre-adolescence in Westland, lived around Wayne State for 10-ish years, moved to Madison WI in '91. We considered doing a ritual burning of all our unpaid parking tickets on our way out, at Jeffries & Telegraph (Detroit city limits), but discretion prevailed.

As a Michigan native, I get a chuckle out of watching Wisconsinites use their palm to show where, in Wisconsin, they're from.

I had a grandfather born, raised, and working in the woods from the time he was fourteen, this being about 1906 or so. Also, this was in and around Trenary in the U.P.

My grandmother and mother were both raised on farms near Applegate, which is near Lexington which is north of Port Huron on the 'thumb.'

I've made many trips to the U.P trout fishing.
