I am always on the lookout for decent saw deals on craigslist... But lately people are asking crazy prices for these saws. Like an 18" Poulan for $90?? Some old small small craftsman POS that doesnt run for $40 or an old 031 for $250??

Maybe i'm the only one that thinks this is crazy...but there must be some idiot out there that is paying these prices.

This is on the Seattle Craigslist by the way

Those don't sound too out of line to me.

Vancouver, 066-$700, 038 mag-$350, Husky 61-$275. I bought an 038 mag new in "88, I think it was over $500 but under $600. Now, 20 years later, maybe even that same saw, beat to ---- for $350? And the others, like unless they were mint, get stuffed.

I get great deals on CL.. but I avoid the stupid stuff.. that sells anyhow.

I've been known to put saws out here with stupid prices, but they always sell

This week on CL: 084 - $400. "Won't start. I pulled and pulled and pulled and it won't start" Sold in minutes.. (I missed it).

Last week I bought an 031 with old gas for $10. Same day someone is selling one for $250. It sold..

craigslist is like any selling venue. there's good deals and bad deals.

seems nothing sells unlike I post it at give away prices.

lately I've scored some killer deals on craigslist. just got a killer deal on a MS 200T. a homeowner purchased it to do storm yard clearing with. got a super deal, because it wasn't running right.

took it home.. rebuilt the carb, runs perfect!! it had great compression, so I suspected 200T only needed a little TLC.

Im scouting an 046 right now on CL, but dude hasnt emailed me back yet or called. Price was 150$. Hope he isnt a Pats fan...

Just bought a building off craigslist. It's a 48x160 15 1/2ft high 12x12 treated pine poles with 12x12 headers. Trusses set on 4ft centers. With enough metal to enclose 3 sides. Paid $7100 for it. He is taking it down and labeling everything. I'm splitting it with a friend we each get 80ft. I thought that was a good deal. He has another building he is selling the trusses off of. The come apart in the middle for transport but they span 110ft. That was to big for me to use. Around St.Louis we never get good big saws on there. Just small crappy and if they say stihl or husky they go high quick.

I have got a couple of good things from Craigslist, a pickup behind cab toolbox for $60 and a big construction type box 4'x21/2x21/2 for $100. New they would have been way more, probably $300 for the one and $400 for the other. Its the saws that seem out of line.

Whenever I sell stuff on CL I always bump it up 20% over what I'll take because I usually get crazy low ballers. I want to get 700$ for a mower I'm selling which is a fair price, I listed it for 800$ and have gotten a half dozen offers for 300-500$. So I list high knowing people will want atleast 100$ off asking price, so I can still get around what I'd like to for the item.

Cheap bastids, when I see a good deal I pay for it, if it ain't I good deal, I don't even try to talk them down, I don't even call.

I ALWAYS say "price firm" or "fixed", Often - "don't make me any offers and I dont want to trade for anything except CASH".

Had a guy want to swap me a couch for a saw... lololol

I actually had my 361 up because I wanted to basically swap it for a regular 361 so I could run dual dogs and extended clutch cover on it. I put CASH ONLY.

Only offer I had was some guy wanted to swap me his 046.

I ended up just putting the wrap on and 1 of the new dogs and bagging the rest of the kit (maybe someday).

I'll have to look for a saw with PRICE FIRM or FIXED - maybe I can get something of yours Lake

I saw your listing.. didn't want to say anything... Nice writeup on the virtues of the QA;)

What are you complaining about??? You get more saws listed in WA state craigs list in one week than I see in a year here. Count you blessings, man.

Well im looking at CL right now and I've found this.

http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/grd/561865264.html

Might be for a collector but...

then theres this one

http://seattle.craigslist.org/skc/grd/561824446.html

theres this one including a sharpener

http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/grd/561918115.html

hows about a husky

http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/grd/559146079.html

these are all under 200 bucks. A saw for under 200 is hard to go too far wrong with for a homeowner. If your making your living from it then perhaps CL is not the best place to gamble the mortgage payment anyway.
Just seems to me that there are some saws that will keep the wood stove burning for some reasonable prices.
Yes there is also that MS260 for 350.00 I don't that one seems high I guess, but all in all you can find some pretty good buys.

As always you need to know what your shopping for and what its worth before making the phone call.

ok one last one for those that want power

http://seattle.craigslist.org/tac/tls/555008072.html

450 for that one but its an MS 660, if your neighbor says you paid too much just cut his house off its foundation.

OK OK one last one. Then I'm closing the CL page. This one is for 14 saws and all other contents of the storage unit for 100.00.

PSST hey buddy, yeah you, over here. http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/tls/556949014.html

When are you posting yours, Andy

Give us a heads up a day or two ahead of time. I would feel a lot more comfortable about taking an hour or two to meet with someone about a saw if I knew where it came from.

Yeah i know what you mean. geez i saw some of those and others and thought im outta here, but wait its 11 pm..
