this is one of the reasons we are paying higher fuel prices. sending jobs overseas. the employ more people, they in turn make a better living, can aford finer things-such as cars, which in turn they consume more fuel, supply and demand takes more effect and the chinese and saudi's are getting rich from this as we get deeper in debt.

just my opinion!

guess we will be using solar powered chain saws in the future as we wont afford gas for them.

DING, DING, DING...

We have a winner!

For a dumbhunter you're pretty smart.

How dare those Chinese want cars? Why next thing you know they'll be wanting to have more than one child, free press, habeas corpus rights AND the Olympics.:jawdrop:

The only defense is to not buy their products, When did you last use a Chinese tool that didn't strip out? If we boycott their goods. they''ll soon be kissing our arses instead of the way it is now.Millions of American jobs sent overseas to Countries that hate us! Just keep electing the same kind of fools!

Simple answer, NO.....:censored:

I'm inclined to agree with ya, I don't care much for that deal at all but whatcha gonna do.

Husqvarna Signs Agreement for Acquisition of Jenn Feng Outdoor Products Operation
Husqvarna has signed an agreement with Jenn Feng Co., Ltd. for acquisition of the company's operation in outdoor products. Jenn Feng, a listed Taiwanese company, is a leading producer of chainsaws and trimmers for the consumer market. The product offering also comprises lawn mowers, high-pressure washers and generators.

I wouldn't be too thrilled with the above either...

Troll we gotta hurry up and die before the good brands do,LOL

I thought it was all "junk"?

Just their boats. (joke)

Ya gotta admit they make really Great Wall. (joke)

Seriously guys, wake up and smell the coffee. The Chinese are not an inferior people. They can make things just as well as any other nationality. People said the same thing about Japanese cars, look at them now. Mark my words, Toyota will end up buying either Ford or GM. The high end Japanese cars are every bit as good as Mercedes Benz. I personally drive a German made VW Golf TDI. Later model years of this cars are made in Brazil. While I'd like to think that my German VW is better than a Brazilian VW I don't think there's any objective evidence to support that feeling. (not a joke)

To sit there and say that the Chinese can't build a quality chainsaw simply because they're Chinese is ridiculous. If you sell these people short they will roll right over you. (not the least bit funny)

No drugs, but I sometimes wonder if I'm for real or not.:jester:

OK, maybe my sense of humor is not coming across. Obviously I know that both China and Cuba are communist countries. I just think it's ironic that we have this big old trade embargo against Cuba, a country that couldn't possibly hurt us, while we give free reign to China.

I can't remember which Soviet leader said that the capitalists would sell them (the U.S.S.R.) the rope that they would hang us with. Well with China, we're giving them the rope making technology, borrowing the money for buying the rope that we're hanging ourselves with.

Ya can't buy much that's not made in China. Some of the stuff they make is really quite good.

I had just finished paying last months bills, and after checking what was left in my wallet there was no time or room for humor here... :censored: Some kind of drugs otoh. maybe... I'll go look for some single malt and see if I'm getting smarter...

However, you point out what has probably confused most non-Americans. Why is Cuba so much worse than other communist countries? As you say China worries me a lot more...

YIKES! Is nothing sacred?

I guess even the mighty Stihl is not immune to the seductive power of cheap labor, that overtakes economic entities like the Mongol hordes under Ghengis Khan colonized the steppes of central Asia centuries ago.

FOR THE RECORD: I am NOT anti-Asian. I am, however, very much against the policies of the totalitarian regime in the People's Republic of China, not to be confused with the democratic island nation of Taiwan, once known as the Republic of China before they fled to escape annihilation by the Red Army in 1949.

The economic policies of China are based on cruel expoitation of labor at slave wages, an artificially deflated currency that makes that labor irresistibly cheap to the rest of the world, which acts to the detriment of other nations' economies, whose entire manufacturing infrastructures are priced right out of business. The environmental consequences of China's exposive economic avarice are appalling and a true menace to the neighboring nations, to say nothing of the health of the citizens of China, for whom those in power have zero regard, except as pawns in the service of their relentless drive toward world hegemony. We Americans, from the wage-earner who buys Chinese stuff at Wal-mart, to the CEO who moves a manufacturing plant to China, are falling right into this trap because of our greed and stupidity. I include myself here.

Don't call me anti-Asian. I will tell you that Chinese robber barons are laughing at us, because "roundeye srave to cheap chinajunk...hope roundeye rike work makee Nike knockoffs two dolla day." These are some of the most ruthless people on the face of the earth, and we are in their sights.

When Apple computers and Stihl chainsaws are made there, well.......
not much left, is there?

Big problem

The problems we face with China are many and varied. For one thing they do not honor copy-write and intellectual property rights, or patents. A good friend of mine wrote a book that was the number one best seller for nearly two years. The book was copied in China and although no solid numbers are available it is said to have sold around 20 million copies. After several years of negotiation he received a check for slightly over 3K. Not only that there were several sequels written to his book by Chinese authors. We also as mentioned have a large amount of our debt owned by the Chinese. Jobs have been moved to China because of the low cost of labor and will continue to migrate to China. The low value of the dollar is also hurting us now, although if the value of the dollar declines enough we may see jobs coming from other countries to the US as we may become cheap labor. These are just some of the problems we face, there are a lot more, and all are complicated. I unfortunately have solutions for few of them, and they have been years and years in the making, and will take years and years to resolve, if ever. JR

Hehe...

Apple and Stihl, the canaries in the collapsed and burning coal mine.

Here's an interesting article from an Australian publication, check out the last paragraph. http://www.onlineopinion.com.au/view.asp?article=2328

Then there's this... http://www.treas.gov/tic/mfh.txt
I sure hope China and OPEC don't gang up against us and dump the paper they're holding on us.

Finally, http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/balance/c5700.html for a look at the trade deficit.

Summary: We keep borrowing ever more money from China so we can keep buying ever more stuff (much of it junk) from China. Gosh, do you think they'll ever want to collect on the debt?

Our problems go farther than China. As we move towards the "world economy", the basic idea is that the standard of living will improve in other countries until we reach a sort of equalibrium. The problem is that we are also in a downward spiral to meet that same equalibrium. We really need to change some foreign policy or we are gonna all be screwed.

Engines

Can you explain this?

"The production at STIHL Qingdao started in September 2006 with brush cutters. Hedge trimmers and chain saws will join the product family in the coming years, with output projected to reach one million engines by 2011. Products from STIHL Qingdao are backed by the same uncompromising quality guarantee which STIHL is famous for around the world, and every unit is manufactured for export to overseas markets including Europe and North America."

http://www.stihl-qd.cn/isapi/englisch/default.asp

And lest anyone accuse me of trying to hurt Stihl's sales I actually want to help them increase sales.......no harm intended

My guess is they will make all the engines in china and assemble the units in another factory, Germany? That way they can say its made in Germany and some components will be made in china. Just a guess.

Going out to see where my 361 was made right now.

ms361

Made by Stihl usa with foreign and domestic components.

They just dont tell you what parts or who foreign is on the label.

And dont expect a price drop on the products. The stock holders will really like the increase in profits.

This discussion is all the same and predictable, but as a "student" of things
that are more interesting, I will note this:

If racial slang/slurs/etc. were posted here against any other "minority/race"
other than Oriental, or Arabic, they would probably be banned, or at least
warned.

Just something to think about..................
