    seeping oak tree

My Daughter lives in Tennessee and has an oak tree that is seeping at the base of the tree. It "spurts" a small amount of liquid every few seconds. A water main is nearby. There are a large number of figeater beetles and their
larvae in this area. Any idea of what is causing the problem? The Beetles or something else? And what should we do? No other trees seem to be affected at this time.

The "spurting" sounds fishy to me. I could see this happening in the spring from the trees own system see if this persists into the fall. If so, I am very leary of the diagnosis so far.

Photo will be a better help to diagnose, check with a local arbosist. Estimates are usually free. If one is not free check around

    Cheers
