    renewing trailer registration online

so instead of driving 15 miles to the DMV i figure its the year 2010, i can do it online...
.. well these geniuses have it set up so you can renew registration online.. but you need to first obtain the "registration renewal form" from the DMV office...?

.. so... why wouldnt i just renew it in person while i was there getting the form?

    and they wana run healthcare!?

I'm thinking it might be a MN thing. I was able to do everything online here in Oregon, at least for my snowmobiles. I don't recall sending anything in even - used my credit card as I recall.

For cars, we have to do a smog test every couple of years, so we just renew at the same time.

Agreed I don't want them running our health care, though! Fully 10 years after Amazon led the way, the states are following with online registration.

You just need the form to get your plate and VIN. You should be able to get those off your trailer.

I don't know if your state offers them or not but if they do , get the permanent plate and don't worry about renewing again.

im still very new to the trailer registering deal

i just registered this one like 3 months ago.. the lady at the counter told me that NJ is doing something new now, where ALL trailer registrations run out at the end of march, no matter when you got it. so my registration that i paid as much as everyone else for, lasted less than half as long.

upon further inspection of their site, i see this:

"In New Jersey, most vehicles must apply for an annual registration renewal. To simplify the process, MVC sends you an annual registration renewal notice. This letter includes a PIN that you can use to renew online or by phone:
    * On the Web (Note: a credit card convenience fee will be applied in order to process each online transaction)"

i never got sent anything in the mail... and how about that..a "credit card convenience fee" ... LMAO !
    these people are a joke
even if you renew by phone they charge you a "credit card convenience fee"

then they let me know if i didnt receive the documents in the mail to renew it.. to just visit them at the local DMV (15 miles away)... so i guess thats what i gotta do.

New jersey is a very strange state, and anything that applies to you guys, probably doesnt apply here in new jermany. i would call them on the phone and ask for help, but by the time i recieve anything that they might consider help, im probably better off driving my ass to their headquarters ,i guess its off to the DMV i go, what a pain in the ass.. just so i can give them $23.

so i tried to get into the DMV before to renew the registration.. huge brand new building, like 30 counters to help people at... they have ONE LINE open.. about 40 people in line, literally.. couldnt even walk inside, the line was forming outu the front door. just turned around and left..

good old government workers strike again.
its like going to walmart, they have 20 checkout lines, but theres never more than 2 open. this dmv is the same way, but always only has ONE window open and pissed off people lined up out the door... while all the other people sit behind the counter and watch..oh well..another productive day in NJ

Yep, I hear you on the DMV thing. There is *always* a line. And when you get inside, there are 3-4 people dinking around behind the wall of desks, but only 1-2 people actually helping those in line.

The local DMV used to use those "take a ticket" things, but now they just want you to wait in line. With those numbered tickets, my favorite trick was to check the trash for tickets that people tossed when they got irritated and left before their turn was up. One time I was in and out of the DMV in 5 minutes! But, I normally budget at least 90 minutes for them. So irritating!

just call them and tell them you never received your registration renewal papers.

i'm sure they'll send you some with the pin number.

    In-state call toll-free 888-486-3339

trailers with electric brakes must be inspected every year too. not that many people actually get that done......but, just to be on the safe side, in case...

lol i bet all the people in line loved you huh
any time of system would be great, maybe a bench to sit on , especially for the older people that standing for 45 mins might be a big deal to.. they have an armed guard at a desk too, its hilarious, ive been to this new one 3 times now, i thought it might have been just a one time deal, nope, hes there everytime, armed officer at the DMV with his own ltitle desk rigth by the frontdoor!!

yea theyd probably take 3-5 working days to put the papers in the envelope, then the another wonderful facet of the US government will take another 3-5 business days to deliver them 14.7 miles. i thought itd be so easy to renew the registration online for a trailer in the year 2010, this Pin number deal seems to be another of the governments conspiracies working against us tryin to keep the white man down. they make everything so difficult, total job security and never one single satisfied customer!

Missouri's online renewal is bogus as well. The criteria you have to meet to be eligible eliminates 99% of the vehicles.
