Do I kill the 318, or just stuff the 360 in it?

My built 318 in my woodwagon is running good for what it is, buuuuut, I just sent the Police interceptor heads off the 360 I have (that is a fresh rebuilt engine) to be milled .030, and ported, as well as having the valves upped to 2.02" intake 1.60" exhaust, from the stock 1.88" 1.60".

Going with a rv extreme cam, and Rhoads lifters, scrapping the air gap manifold for a Performer Edelbrock manifold as well.

Do I wait, or pull the trigger and save the 318 for a backup?

360 all the way!! I had a 79 Chevy 4x4 I completely restored and lifted. I built a 350 for it. It had the 1.96 milled heads. I put a decent torque cam in it and a performer manifold on it. I had a holley 650 on it, but it was temper-mental. I put an edelbrock carb on it and had no problems. I also put an msd ignition on it. I had that engine in 3 different trucks and my 70 chevelle before I sold it. Post some pics of your progress.

There is no replacement for displacement.

If you can't fix it with a hammer, then it must be an electrical problem.

360's will run circles around 318's all day....I had a '77 dodge powerwagon w/ the 360 and would pass my buddy in his '78 w/ the 318......used to pizz him off awful cause he spent many hundreds trying to soup it up.Edlbrock intake, msd ignition, four barrel, heads machined, the works. The ol' 360 was stock w/ headers and was a BEAST!

Can't imagine what a built 360 could do

I'm a HUGE fan of the comp cams 268h, then a Wieand Stealth intake with a smallish carb. 600CFM or so.
Why? Well, the stealth and the cam really like each other, a LOT!!! Lots and lots of low end to mid range grunt. It will die out about 5200, but who cares? This turns a small block into a torque monster, trust me!
As for the initial question, are you serious? You really have to ask, then ask us? REALLY?

I like the 360 in my 3/4 ton. Moms truck has the 318 with 160K, and it is sick, and not in a good way. IDK what is up with it, but I need to tear it down soon.

Only thing I dont like about the 360 is the lack of fuel mileage A cummins would have been so nice. lol.

You could always pull the 318 and build it so it would be ready to go if the 360 lets go

    And, WE NEED PICTURES!

The older truck runs better with no load because its lighter but lacks the torque. These are not very efficient motors and about anything you do to increase cyl pressure gets you into detonation, not enough squish and very little quench The 92 has 260k on it and never had a valve cover off.Sorry for walking on you,re post, not sure what I did wrong.
