U.S. security on Canada border lacking

Why would either country pay more money to defend the border..??

Fewer than one in every 100 miles of the U.S. border with Canada is adequately secured, a government watchdog agency said on Tuesday.
The study by the Government Accountability Office said just 32 miles of the nearly 4,000-mile northern border "reached an acceptable level of security" last year, according to the Border Patrol's assessment.

Why not work collectively to make each country safe.. and save money on border. Used to be called the longest unguarded border in the world.. now somebody with more money in their budget then they need are wanting to spend money on the border protection?

Yeah, making everyone on boths sides of the border get $100 passports has made the border more secure. Just another tax. Millions of dollars worth of fences and man hours have failed to keep illegal Mexicans out on their southern border.

This is Liebermann of CT senatorial fame beating his chest. Now he is suggesting we need Visas??? Like someone with hostile intent is going to line up and pay more money to be postively ID'd? They cross at one of the 3,900 miles plus worth that is not secure.

And then I see Homeland Security personnel being used to seize fake NFL jerseys in Dallas during the lead up to the Super Bowl on one of the US channel news shows two days ago. This is related to national security??????

Whats the point? The only threat to America from Canada is Celine Dion and she is already here. I'd rather put a border defense around California to keep those idiots from escaping.

You Canucks settle down and relax.

It's nothing more than posturing and bull#### from a closet Liberal jackass, looking to find some traction in getting more Federal welfare $$$ to his postage stamp state.Kinda stupid seeing as how Vermont is a Canadian tourist trap.

When Reps from Montana,Washington, Maine, and North Dakota start whining, then worry. I don't see that happening though, as the Southern border is smaller and a Bigger problem...and they wont smuggle good Beer.

    Stay safe!

Trying to close the worlds longest unsecured border is a joke. Go to woods of North Eastern Vermont and you can find a spot to walk right across. Or maybe here:

Here's a nice photo depicting Canusa Avenue, straddling the Canada/USA border in Vermont/Quebec. The right side of the photo is Canada the left side the United States. If you look closely you can see both French and English signs.

Know this area well as my Mum was born about fifteen miles from Stanstead/Rock Island/Beebe QC and the corresponding VT communities of Derby Line and Newport.

We used to to Vermont all the time for movies, dinner, shopping, a drive, as did many others, but I suspect most can not anymore because you need a passport. I also suspect a lot of VT youth would go to Quebec as the drinking age there is 18.

Note the stupid "Arret" sign. Only in racist Quebec.

BTW RacerX, you government in their infinate wisdom has put up a lot of fences in these border towns. That method seems really to be working well along your southern boundry!!
