I bought me one of those friction devices and decided to try it out on one of my own trees before tackling the neighbors tree for which I bought it. I had a (mostly) dead limb on a huge sycamore that was hanging over the street, so I figured it was time. At the highest point I was 75 feet up. I tied the limb off in two places, and it all came down beautifully. Did another smaller limb higher up as well. All went well, and my worried wife is glad I'm back on the ground again. The other tree I'll be doing is a tulip tree, fairly big, but it's a removal. The only thing that really worries me is cutting the top off. There are other trees nearby which I might be able to tie onto. Not quite sure how I'll be tackling that one yet. Here are the pics:
Here's my father-in-law untying my ropes from the limb.
Some of my adoring fans.
The best action shot. All the others pics were mostly close-ups of my butt. (Ljute would have liked those, eh?)
Here's a good one!

I need a few more carbiners as well, so perhaps it's a time to place another order at Baileys.
