    carhartt

Well I have been buying carhartt for about 20 years. My wife asked what I needed for christmas and since everyone let's me know how ratty and wornout my current carhartt jacket is I said a new jacket. Christmas came I got a new carhartt jacket. I went to wear it today and looked at the label and it says hencho en Mexico. Since when. I thought they were a American made company. I own bibs, caps, sweatshirt, jeans. Made by them all say made in America. I try to by american products when I can. I will be getting my money back tomorrow. Mitch

Same thing happened here. Carhart went Commie about 3-4 years ago. Caught me by surprise too.

When they start making thier stuff back here again, I'll buy thier stuff again. In the meantime, they are no better than any of the others that market foreign made crap, for a lot less, and I will vote with my wallet.

Shop around, as there is still good US made stuff out there.

    Stay safe!

I am no fan of Unions. Hate 'em for the most part. All the same, it's American made stuff.

I'm surprised anyone thought Carharts were still made in the U.S., they've been moving their production out of the U.S. for the last decade. Last plant here closed a couple years back.

Back in the 90s the AFL-CIO got it's panties in a knot because Carhart didn't use union labor to build a new warehouse. Dropped a boycott when Carhart pledged they've never again use non-Union labor on another construction project in the U.S. I think the Union thought that agreement meant union-built buildings, not that Carhart was planning to never expand or renovate in the U.S. ever again.

I don't know who I would rather support, socialist that are trying to break this country down, or socialist China....

I just picked up a new coat for work last month, it was a choice between Carhart or Smitt (TSC's brand) both foreign made, but the TCS coat was about $30 cheaper.

Lately I am having a harder and harder time buying anything that is Union made if I have another choice.

Yep, carhartts are great, but when they wear out you get Made in Mexico Carhartts. They are still decent, just not USA. I have a couple of newer active jackets which I love for working in the cold, we'll see how long they last.
Another part of the label that's changed is the sizing. It's now S, M, ,L XL, XXL,etc. You used to be able to dial it in a bit better. Like 48 regular, or up or down a bit, now it's XL period.

If I had a choice to pay more for american made, I would. Not seeing that choice

My Carhartt coat was made in the USA.

My Carhartt pants were made in... Nicaragua?

    Uh, okay.

I too was disappointed when they went south of the boarder. But Until I can find some USA made pants that are of equal/better quality, I guess I'll be sticking with them.

It's getting harder and harder to find "Made in the U.S.A. these days.

You're kidding!!! Just got a new pair of insulated Bibs for christmas 2010 and they were "Hencho en Mexico".

Wierd. Old stock maybe? Either way, the old US made stuff seemed to be made better, so at least you wont have to complain about the imported crap for another 2-3 years.

To change it up a little Ive been buying Carhartts for 30 plus years. Been wearing them for working outside. They were hard to find back then now you can find them all over cause the yuppies want to look cool in them. Maybe thats not a bad thing.
I enjoy working alone, especially when I'm all by myself.
