Lawn Site has a new button....Spell Check..Anyway we could get it also for this site?
It would be nice to have.
Yes it would be nice.
Yes, then we could read JPS posts
No, not really
Do not really care either way....

Only probelm is getting people to use it! You can lead them to it but...............
I don't see the big deal with spell check...I personally hate spelling errors, but often shortcut or use slang words...
if it AIN'T borke don't fxi it!

Thanks for reminding me regarding JPS.. I know it would be tough but can you imagine him having a post without a spelling error? It would not be the same around here
Unfortunately, spell check will not discern the difference between synonyms used improperly (like THERE, THEIR and THEY'RE). The ISA site has spell check and it usually tells me that I have 3-4 misspelled words when they are correct.

I used to think spell check would be a great feature when I first started posting here almost a year ago. But once you get to know everyone's little quirks and dyslexias it is as easy as reading it in a different language. Tony Marks posts are best understood when read in a thick southern accent, then it comes together quick. The best thing for a JPS post is just look at it from different angles and directions and the backwards words will pop off the page.

The picture you see is no portrait of me
I use ispell already, thats if I remember to run it. I cringe when I go back and see my spelling errors. Anybody else's, doesn't bother me too much.
Buy the weigh spell checker wont catch everything.

Simply READING your own post before hitting the 'submit' button works wonders. I wish JPS would try it. If you cannot understand your own post, no one else can either. Common spelling mistakes don't bother me too much but posts full of blatent missed keystrokes are impossible to read.
I know how to spell, it is my keyboard skills that need honing. Looking at it from another perspective, I was not trained as a typist, and if someone wants perfect typing they should hire one!
jps posts just make you slow down and think. that's not a bad thing. i like newfie's approach - head at jps posts from several different angles. probably wouldn't be a bad idea to do that for all of them.
it's the little quirks that help create a picture of people you can't see. just part of their signature. i like that. i can get all the perfection i want from a textbook. well...as far as spelling and grammar are concerned. the telling thing about forums actually is the conclusions you draw from what you think you just read...tells you more about yourself sometimes than the person who posted. that is, if you're willing to take a look from that angle.
funny poll, though.

so, jp, is it true that bad publicity is better than no publicity? frankly, there's something about deciphering your posts that i find entertaining - perhaps i'm just easily amused. bob once sent me an email from his first attempts to get his speak-into-the-microphone-and-the-computer-will-type-what-it-thinks-you're-saying software. i had to read it four times to get all the nuances and what i believed he was actually saying. that was great fun. i'm sorry he got the thing to work right.
