    Iraqi Vice

    http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn...2003May12.html

I thought that we originally had 250,00 troops involved in the war. Now that its time to stablize the power vacuum and provide some sort of stability there seems to be whinning about securing a region the size of California with "only" 150,000 troops. Not a good analogy though. I think that there is a lot of dirt in Irag that doesn't need attention. Guard and police what's needed and leave the wilderness alone.

That's like sending out four climbers to put work on the ground and leaving one groundie to clean up, with only a handsaw. Is this the best that we can expect from our "planners"? In the article they quoted someone saying that a lot of the troops are looking for WMDs.

Yesterday I read that most of the unit that was charge with finding these imaginary, so far, WMDs, is coming home because they "Still Haven't Found What I'm Looking For", thanks U2

This reminds me of a story that I heard from a friend who is working a Twelve Step Program. If I'm breaking a confidentiality here, let me know, and I'll self-edit. I think this is a good point though. A person couldn't understand why their life was a mess. The person was told that they live their life like the Looney Tunes, Tasmanian Devil. They zoom around, spinning and bumping into things, leaving a mess behind them. When they stop for a moment to look around, everytime the see the same thing. A mess. This becomes their "norm". Instead of living like the Tasmanian Devil, maybe our "planners" could take a little time to figure out that they need to allocate forces to take care of the mess that was created by taking the control out of the Iragi society.

All these points came-up in global discussion, long before Bush pulled the trigger.

There were reasons millions hit the streets - these very points - instead of legalizing pot, gay rights, and teenage immigrant welfare mothers on dope, like the radio talk show pundits claimed it was all about.

I was handed a NIH alert yesterday afternoon - reflecting doctor's confirmed fears of mass contamination from radioactive stockpiled goodies that were boosted from eight nuclear sites - right under the noses of the couple of armed US troops left behind to guard the places - seems these very sites (which were used as "evidence" that Saddam's building weapons) weren't all that Powell claimed them to be, except everyone from farmers needing 55 gallon drums for water to seedy types wanting enriched stockpiles for political reasons (these will come home to us to roost I'm certain) have ransacked the places - completely.

Children already bleeding uncontrollably, people with sunburn and scales, lips falling off, and no medical treatments available.

The only needed people left behind eventually, will be the troops guarding the new U.S. Halliburtoned government while it doles-out it's share of the goodies. Afterall, weren't Iraqis the ones who flew the planes into the Trade Center? Why should we administer necessary humanistic services to them? And they also has WMD's they was fixin' to use on us, not to mention they wear turbins and have brown skin. They's in the way of our oil.

maybe this will help settle them down....

    your tax dollars at work:

    24-HOUR MID-EAST TV TO PROMOTE "FREEDOM & DEMOCRACY" http://www.thehill.com/news/051303/tv.aspx

The White House expects congressional funding to the tune of $64 million for the first-ever, 24-hour Arabic-language satellite television network. "The aim is to provide the Middle East's tens of millions of viewers with an alternative to their usual viewing diet of unremediated anti-American propaganda," the Hill's Melissa Seckora reports. Kenneth Tomlinson, chairman of the Broadcasting Board of Governors (BBG), called the proposed network "the most important public diplomacy initiative of our time." Westwood One media mogul Norman Pattiz, who sits on the BBG and has produced TV news for Iraq, bills the proposed Mid-East TV as a "journalistic mission to "promote and sustain freedom and democracy, the Hil reports. "We want to give the Arab world an example of what a free press is. We want to do it in a way that is not like the sensationalistic approach taken by the media in that region, one that includes incitement to violence and disinformation, Pattiz said.
