Sorry, SS, no pontoons yet for Southerner Ice Fishing.

Helps to have lakes that get a foot of ice on em by New Years or so, so ya have time to enjoy the fishing. We try to have it on the lake as soon as there's about 8" to hold up a 4wd ATV and the shack.

Glad you like it guys, it's only part mine, about 4 of us went together building it, but since I store it in the summer, it's my hunting shack. I'll get a couple up to date pics, as well as some of the build pics up on the Off topic forum if yall want.

Have you done anything do deal with the effects of firing a large caliber rifle in an enclosed space?

I know, I know... everyone on here has been running saws and shooting guns and driving off-road vehicles so long that noone can hear anything.

WHAT!?!? I DIDN'T HEAR YOU!!!!

But all kidding aside, touching off a 30-06 round inside like that is gonna leave your bell rung. Even with ear muffs.

Not that I'm super experienced at the rifle range but the half-dozen or so ranges I've been to ALL have had a very open front and semi-open sides. I do know that enclosing the sound is a bad idea. There's a lot more energy there than you think.

As an aside, I've got a fully rifled slug barrel on my 12-gauge & with a scope, can put a pretty darn good group together @ 100yd. But DAMN.. does that leave my head ringing after an afternoon at the range. I shoot a sabot round that gets 2100fps muzzle velocity. So essentially, I've got a .75 caliber rifle.

The Sherrif's Department training range has a 200yd target... I think this year I'll see what my popgun can do there.. just for grins.
HUH whad ya say. Na the muzzles will be outside shouldn't be to bad, and yes we wear ear protection.

Thats the plan, ( old press, portable scale ) long winter afternoons. Were even thinking of trenching some wire and putting up some lights, nothing like a late afternoon early evening of shooting telling lies (or the same stories you have told a thousand times ) and siting by the fire I cant wait. I guess I better go cut some more wood!!

Get a big enough wood burner and it would, but keeping it fed you might make you kinda tired carrying up all that wood!!!

I couldn't wait for the shed so I fired up the wood burner to burn the stink off it. On a side note boy the quality of those Vogelzang stoves really vary's I took back 2 before I got one that fit worth a darn. Granted its only a 200.00 dollar stove but the first 2 I would have been afraid to lite up. the fit was really bad, this one was like a different company made it.

On a side note if you can see the fence in the background its the new one the shed is made from the old one its some 20 year old ceder.

We talked about that but we figured the front hatch would be open and if it gets away from us we can open some more windows, and if it gets really cold out we will be set.

Well I have been running the little boxwood stove in the backyard and have found one thing I don't like, its got a built in damper and its about an inch from the top of the stove. Boy does that get hot. I'm going to put one in the chimney my question is there any benefit to having 2 dampers or should I just take the original one out?

That's crazy. Its like they still tried to fool you a second time then realized you were on to them about that stove. I always wondered about them; if they were any good. To be afraid to light it sounds pretty bad.

Just leave the one at the stove open all of the time if you don't want to take it out.
