General definition of recreational tree climbing is using rope and harness techniques to climb trees for fun and adventure. If you have good technical tree climbing skills it will make climbing trees for deer hunting much safer.

What do you guys usually do up there once you SRT ascend?

In a tall conifer I use SRT to reach where the branches begin in the crown and then switch over to climbing "alt lanyard" technique using a short and along adjustable lanyard attached to the center of the harness (not the D's) until I reach the top of the tree.
