Just bought this mint saw off a friend. It has a 16 " bar on it . Just wondering if a 18 " is too much. I'm using it at my hunt camp (100 acres) making trails firewood etc...on the weekends. It's my first saw

I run 18 inch bar on mine with no problems but I cut a lot of Poplar though it's good little saw. Just make sure the chains sharp I run either Carlton chain or Woodland Pro from baileys on my saw.

I have a Husky 49 that is similar, but slightly larger engine. The 49 is near same as 2050 Jonsered. I've run 16 & 18 inch bars with .050 ga .325 Oregon 95VP semi-chisel chain and 17 & 18 inch bars with .058 ga .325 Woodland Pro 28RC chisel chain on this saw. My favorite set up is the 18 inch with 28RC chain in clean wood. The saw has plenty of speed and torque with the 18 inch.

I would also guess the 2045 to be okay in softwood with 18 inch/.325 and 16inch/.325 in hardwood.

Good luck with the saw.
