041 and octane

My Stihl manuals from 025 through 460 and newer stuff like 362 and FS240 all say to use 89.

Higher octane will not damage the motor. It does not burn hotter, in fact it's more like the opposite.

All gas stations here have blender pumps where the first .5 to 1 gallon are whatever octane was pumped by the last curstomer. When I fill a 5 gallon can to use for saws and other two stroke equipment I fill it with 91 to ensure that it's at least 89.
