I have some 044-046 crank cases to sell and I need to know how to tell the difference. I know the pistons are different, but some do not have a piston. Will the 044 crank work in a 046 case with out any problems. Thanks Tom

The 46 case is about 12mm wider, thus the crank is about 12mm longer. Measure known cases, then compare. I'm tired and can't think of a better way.

Edit to add: the bolt pattern for the cylinder is wider on the 46, so if you have a known top end, use it to check if the holes line up or not.

The easiest way I've found is to look at the starter side of the crankcase. The 044 crankcase is sloped whereas the 046 is squared off. See attached pictures.
