has anyone heard of a flywheel making the ignition go
bad. i got one that went out changed coil used it a week
and now its out again? any ideas

Unless it's wacking the ignition, nope... Did you gap it correctly?

Are you SURE it's a bad igntion, and not a wiring problem? Remove the ground wire and check again. Then check your HT wire...

Are these factory rev-limiting ignitions? Aftermarket ignitions? I've never heard of a flywheel making an ignition go bad. The magnets in a flywheel either generate enough electricity as they pass across the laminations of the ignition module or they don't. I have heard of and seen flywheels in Briggs and Tecumseh engines that had either reversed polarity or just didn't generate enough electricity for the module to produce a spark.

new style limited coil already isolated kill switch HT wire fine
no hammers puller only flywheel looks OK magnets strong what gives.
i have worked on alot of huskys and stihls and a husky tech (in a former life)
i was curious and called one of the local "techs" he said the flywheel was suspect had a hairline crack and that killed the ign coil said replace both
and that was the cure. said it was a problem on 371/372 but husky wouldn't
admit it. i call B.S. on that i think its just a bad coil but the chance of another
brand new one being bad is weird

I have had coils bad out of the box they
should warranty them.

thanks i'll send another one through warranty hope this one lasts longer than a week

I had two go bad immediately but they were aftermarket
oems should be better but any electrical part can be bad
straight out of a box. If you had a good used one to try out
you may get to the bottom of it faster. Are you using the
correct plug? Anyway I hope it all works out for ya it sucks
I know I have been there and is why I now have backup saws.

i don't have an extra ign this is on a friends saw never seen a problem
like this before. but never heard of husky over torqueing flywheel either
that was the other thing this "tech" had to offer as an explanation what B.S.
i've changed coils before but a flywheel? go figure.

If you have the blue rev-limiting coil then its probably the coil, Husky had a bad run of the blue coils. I've got spacing crews out here that are only getting 6-7 days out of the blue coils before they die. Get yourself the black non-rev limiting coil and you'll be much better off.
