Just picked up a 2165 to match my 2186. Got all new plastics for the 2186 in and about to do the same for my 2165. Now I just need a 45-55cc small chassis saw to complete the range. What 2100 series jred should I get? I believe the two I already have are “pro” saw equivalents with mag cases. What would a good pro ~50cc saw to bookend these two? Ideally it would be inboard clutch but I understand that likely doesn’t exist. I just don’t want a plastic clamshell saw. The jonsered naming convention makes that pretty hard to ascertain.

Big performance difference between the 2153 and 2152? Seeing more 2152s for sale and not a single 2153

A 52 can become a 53 with a $130 cylinder. The difference is noticeable, but not so much that it’s going to impede your ability to cut firewood

The 2152 is a very good, high performing saw. It actually has a little torque, unlike the 2153 which is a screamer.

Unless they've been changed out, the green caps denote epa, cat mufflers. You have to change that. I put a 20 dollar chinese one on my 2152 (Hipa). It seems every bit as good as the original, but pretty much an empty box. You have to keep the muffler bolts tight on the 2152. They tend to loosen. I think mine are finally tightened to stay. I kinda eased up to correct torque over several re-tightenings. Apparently the 2153 cylinder is less likely to have that problem.

They are a beautiful handling 50cc saw in any configuration and they look best in red.. :chainsaw:

I wouldn't pass on a clean 2152...

Or you go a wee bit bigger to the 2156......
You were on the post earlier that explained the Husqvarna compares- was it just the fact it did not call out the pro from the plastic?
Wee bit bigger chassis or displacement? Is the 2156 the same chassis as the 2165 I already have?

Yes, I am trying to get a clear breakdown of what pro jred saw chassis sizes exist but it seems really convoluted. I want a noticeably smaller/lighter saw than the 2165 but I don’t just want a 2165 chassis with a 55cc jug on it. I guess another way to go about this is to compare the 2153 and 2156 to the husky 445 I already own and that will help me out a ton. Would you say the 2156 is similar to a 445 and the 2153 is lighter/smaller? Or are the 2153s and 2156s roughly the same size/weight?

No the 2156 and 2159 line up with the 357XP and 359 family.
I am not real familiar with the 4## and 5## saws- but willing to bet the 2156/357XP should punch the 445 on its butt and steal its lunch money.

Good luck finding a 2153 or a 2156. Pretty regularly I'm searching the usual classifieds and have yet to find either saw offered up locally (upper Midwest). There's probably a much better chance to locate one if you're looking in the NE if you really want one of those heavy hitters. I'd buy one if the opportunity presents itself, but I don't feel like I'm missing out by not having one. I have three 2152's and three 2159's and I've never felt I was missing out on performance - granted I'm just a weekend firewood guy. And I'll wager a "lower performance" saw will outlast the "screamers" in like conditions over time.

I'd whole-heartedly recommend the 2152. A 2149 will also fit the bill, but those are also a little hard to find. If you aren't married to the 2100 chassis, look for a 2252 or Redmax GZ5000. The Redmax can still be found NIB on occasion (currently available on the big online auction site, but not cheap). And if you want, you can still buy the Jonsered 2252 decals and swap them out on the Redmax and few will be the wiser. I bought a pair of GZ5000's for $375 a couple years ago when I found a good ol' boy unloading the last of his stock. Wonderful saw and I have a hard time deciding whether to grab it or the 2152.

Yes I have a buddy out east that snapped up a marketplace 2186 for $500 and shipped it once he was done using it for some big trees he had. I just like the idea of having a 50/65/85cc saw set all from the same jonsered series. My first thought was to get a 2095 for milling but some smart folks on here talked me out of it due to parts availability. I think I'm going to buy a 2171 cyl cover for my 2165 to make the filter changes easier. Then all 3 saws should have the same manual of arms. I assume the 2152s are all small mount with 325 sprockets?

They are small mount, but you can run a .325 or 3/8. Mine are .325

I hear you on the satisfaction of having a run on a saw series. I've got the 2152's, 2159's, a 2166, and a 2165 converted to 71cc. I think that covers all the gaps. After getting my GZ5000, that saw design has grown on me. If I have one saw on my wish list, it would be a 2260.
