I just happened to find a good higher flow option for a Stihl pre-filter, its from the Briggs and Stratton 6.5-7hp Intek OHV engines. The airfilter has a green foam pre-filter that flows more air than the Stihl faberic version. Just cut it to fit and your set to go.

Usually higher flow is due to less restriction, caused by looser media which lets in larger dirt particles. I'm not gonna waste a nice saw by using a free'er flowing filter. K&N does this, and talk to a good diesel guy, they'll tell you what happens when you run them extended periods of time, kaboom. A filter from a lawn mover doesn't have to deal with saw dust trying to get in the cylinder, so it can afford to be a little more open.

Guys you still keep the stock air filter itself, this is just the pre-filter that slips over the airfilter. Lawn mowers are even going to more restrictive filters due to dust, almost all of them use pre-filters now.
