building a woodstove from sheet steel... looking for designs or thoughts

nice that's the kind of stuff I like to see people building their own gear. I thought about adding a blower just for the purpose of burning the coals up after a whole night. What kind of blower do you use. And how do you control the speed?

I went to a local auto parts store ( Autozone ) and purchased a blower motor and squirrel cage fan ( Honda Civic ) for a car I own. Made a housing with 16 Ga. steel. It's 12 volt, so I used a regulated power supply I had ....... and I'm using a PWM to control the speed. The air inlet pipe is all 3 inch Stainless.

There was another one they showed up when I look at that link and it has a remote rheostat. I think but if I add a thermal switch I can probably figure out a way to make it turn off and on automatically as well when when the stove gets a certain temperature if I can find the right location to mount the thermal switch turn on just as the Flames are gone and there's only coal's left. If I do it right it should turn on just as the Flames die out. Thanks it's kind of just what I was looking for.
 
Early on I had wanted to come up with some kind of automatic inlet air control ...... but doing a mechanical control would be to slow to react to flue temps and could present a safety issue. ( run away / out of control stove )

Today there are probably electronics ( thermocouples / and controllers ) that would work. Since I depend on my stove for heat ( of course I have backups ) ...... I want it to run dependably.
I was always careful to include designs that would still put out heat with no power. ( I'm in the country and power outage are not rare )
I don't know much about electronics and I'm comfortable with the way my stove works as is ...... at least until I decide to do some more tinkering.
 
Use a set of Peltier devices to provide Power they convert Heat two electricity or they can transfer heat in either direction that's what they use in those 12 volt Coleman fridges that plug into your cigarette lighter. You would not be able to get 15 amps out of it but I could definitely power small servos to control air flow and a circuit card.
