Can anyone explain the "0" in Stihl model #

Why the "0" in the Stihl model numbers? Were they going to use a system like Husky, ie. 162, 262, 372 as newer models came out? Just seems funny, a lot of new computer programs start with numbers like that, ie: Blah Blah 0.18, and progress from there as new versions are brought out. I didn't work today, had a few brews and some time on my hands!
