Spent a good portion of the evening searching hydraulic leaks, issues, filter replacements etc. A quick question for those of you who know hydraulics.

I have a very slow leak out of the back of the valve spool, the paint on the snap ring has cracked and the snap ring is visible. It doesn't seem to effect performace ...yet. Will I risk contamination, air intake etc???

I'll repair (attempt) or just order a new valve soon but meanwhile want to keep splitting. Oh yeah, it's on a Timberwolf TWP-1 11 GPM

Thanks in advance-

Rob

The area of the valve you mention is where the detent is located. An o-ring on the spool may be going bad allowing leakage under pressure. This area should not have suction at any time so contamination is unlikely.
