I got a flier from one of my distributors for selling their remaining
Homelite bulk chain at closeout prices. What does this mean
as far as the future of Homelite parts availability in general?
I know there are a couple of old Homelite fans around here
and thought I would ask if anyone else has heard anything.
I might stock up on some chain while I am at it, who made Homelite's chain? It always seemed to look pretty good.

Hi John, I never heard of Homelite chain, but I had some McCullock 404 chisel that was really good. I heard that Husqvarna also has chain, but it may just be made by Oregon.
Johnathan Hobbs should know for sure about the Homedelight chain though.

Here in the states, Husqvarna uses oregon bars and chain and I would assume sprockets as well. Tundraotto said they use
Sandvik overseas, but I don't get out much. I would guess the
Homelite is either Carlton or GB, but I have no proof. I have
tried GB here lately and it looks real good, and my customers
have given good reports, I just need to find a better distributor.
I love Carlton, as do my customers, but finding a distributor is real
difficult. Carlton needs to hire some good people to help market
their product. I could sell the hell out of it if I could get it. I
refuse to jump through hoops to sell someone's product though.
There is an aftermarket company aimed at the chainsaw market
located in North Carolina that I used to buy from when I had
my shop open in town, you could get a lot of stuff, a good selection of tecomec pistons and cylinders too. I tried calling them
a couple of weeks ago wanting to get set up with them, no dice.
After giving my credit card info, willing to make an order, and have
them send a credit app with the order, was informed that I had to
talk to the credit manager, and unless my first order was at least
$500 I might as well not bother. I never got a return call from
that manager, and am tempted to try to contact the owner and
ask him what kind of morons are running his/her company, as
they will never get anywhere like that. It is a shame too, I could
sell a lot of their stuff too.

Hi Fish, I remember back to the TSF, there was a guy named Ross, I think, that was a tech with Carleton chain. I think Walt knows him. We have a distrubuter here but they are 45 miles away though. I know it is good chain and wonder why they dont get out there more.

My last info...John Deere had not yet sold the (HOMELITE - SABRE) chain manufacturing plant. They were still looking for a buyer.

HOMELITE made their own chain for a long time.
Originally they had used OREGON, but I think they begin to make their own in the '70's???
