hi all

i'm trying to fit new oil seals to a vintage husqvarna 77 and I've managed to fit a new one to the clutch side successfully with the newer type double lip] seal the original appears to be a black single lip as is the flywheel side, both appear the same size. my my problem is getting the newer double lip seal over the cam where the points ride. the spring keeps popping off the back of the seal and even with the retaining spring off its impossible to get the seal to slip over the cam without damaging the seal. i could grind the cam down as its already been converted to electronic ignition years ago., but i would like to keep it original as someone in the future may want to put her back to points ? any advice would be grateful. i'm assuming the original black seals were a little more forgiving when fitting ?
