Hi I'm rebuilding a 266XP from the early 80's and I need a top cylinder cover. They are hard to find on the internet these days but I'm hoping someone here would be willing to sell me one for a half decent price. Can be scratched but no cracks or missing plastic. I live in Canada but will pay for international shipping. Even an aftermarket would work.

Also, what is everyone doing for custom made gaskets? I was trying to get a hold of an intake manifold gasket but it seems they're hard to come by for a 266. Anyone ever make their own gaskets?? The 266 pulls vacuum from the manifold so I don't think RTV would be an option as it can easily leak into there. Thanks!

Intake block to cylinder gasket is part number 501511902. Should be readily available.

As for a top cover. Good luck. A grey top dual coil 61 has a grey version of the same cover.
You can drill and tap to use a later cover from a 268/272, single coil 61.
This is my 61/272 build, which runs an AM 272 cover:

Thanks for the info. So the only difference between the 266 and 272 cover mounting wise is that one screw right?

Yes, just the one hole.
If you cant get your hands on a good 266 cover the 268/272 style do have aftermarket.

That said, I could use about 4 more good 266 covers... Lol
Right on, I think I might go that route since I can get a 272 cover for dirt cheap anywhere. A 266 saw with the original cover seems to be one in a million. Thanks again for the info

How about if you use the 162 filter and carb intake should work since early 266 and 162 both used Tilly 163 carb.
Kash
That would be okay except my XP has the 224C so idk if that works with that intake. The 268/272 cover mod sounds like a more reasonable option unless someone can beat 20 usd on an OEM cover... LOL
