Just found a Pouland model 31, model number 609211 and may need carb. kit. Does anyone have any information on this saw? What years did they make it, and are parts still available? If not, what should I do with the gummed up carburator. Saw will fire and run on starting fluid. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Poulan 31, Super 31:

Both saw have a Tillotson HL series carburetor on them, so you should be able to get a kit from a local saw shop. Remove, completely disaseemble the carb, put the parts in a glass jar and cover with carb cleaner and let them soak for a few hrs or days. Note: I don't generally remove the soft plugs. Use some compressed air to blow the carb clean. Install the kit, makeing sure to set the metering rod height to spec, turn the mixture screws out form lightly seated about 1 to 1 1/4 turns and you should be set to start the saw. Then do a final carb adjustment.
