Older Husky 372 xp question

I have a 372xp probably one of the first (or close to it) years made, still ran good up till the other day it started surging at high RPM's. Almost like its hitting a rev limiter, or the coil is cutting out. Checked spark it seems good and steady,cleaned the carb good, replaced the spark plug, checked the coil wires and the on/off switch. Adjusted the carb and it doesnt seem to do it as much but still will happen periodically... any Ideas? I put a new jug,piston and rings on it back in the spring and its ran great till recently.

Does it pick up RPM"S or loose them? If it is picking up speed I would think that you might have a bad fuel line or some sort of a vacuum leak that would lean out the saw. Have you vacuum & pressure tested the saw?

Check if the impulse line is not damaged .The short U one close to carb.

I think you have this confused with a 357 or 359, the 372 impulse line runs from crankcase thru carb flange to the carb.

Check your fuel line, sounds like it is cracked somewhere.
