Poulan Pro 375 oiling problem

I recently bought a 375 PP with auto oiler and manual override. I am not very familiar with this set up. Does the manual oiler pull oil through the filter and pick up line like the auto oiler does. I am getting no oil via auto oiler,but the manual pump is doing fine. Thanks in advance for any help.
