Some friends and I salvaged a 24' long and approx. 4' across Mahogany log off a beach near where I live. It has some checking in each end but looks like if we cut about 3' off the ends it would clean right up. I was wondering roughly what this log might be worth and where it came from? Is it worth more if it is milled up? One of my friends has a mill that can handle up to 20' logs and right now its our plan to mill most of it. thanks for any info

Hi Chopper,
I have been paying $7.00+/- for 8/4 kiln dried Pattern Grade Mahogany here in the Northeast. One good use for your log maybe to offer it to a furniture maker who would pay a premium for flitch cut wood. If it is veneer quality, or has a very dramatic figure, you may have hit the lottery. Good Luck
