I'm taking apart my saw for maintenance and wanted to verify model numbers and search for a production date. The only identifiable number sequence I could find was 1127 021 0800. After running a Google search it looks like it could potentially be a 029, 039, MS 290, MS 310, MS 390. The reason I'm asking is because I bought the saw used without getting my hands on it and the recoil rewind cover has a "MS 391" label on it. I was told it is an MS 391, but so far the information says it could be 029, 039, MS 290, or MS 390. Hope this is enough information and makes sense.

Not terribly helpful maybe, but 029, and 039 will be screw caps on fuel and oil reservoir.MS290, MS310, and MS390 will have flippy caps.

Now I’m not positive about this, I’m going by memory from a while back, but I think the 039 and MS390 came with a decompression valve, and 029/ MS290 did not.
Anyone correct me if I’m wrong.

Hope this helps.

Post a pic, the plastics on a 391 are very different looking. Gotta take the whole plastic cover off the cylinder and everything to be able to access and clean the air filter. 029/039/290/390 have a separate air filter plastic cover.
