Stihl Serial number question

Prolly this is silly, but after seeing that 361 thread and the sticker with the serial # on it, I went to a Stihl dealer the other day to look around and noticed all the stickers with serial #'s on them. Did Stihl stop stamping them and just putting them on a sticker??? Thanks guys...

They are still stamped. The stickers are just for the automated assembly line and tracking.

How bout on the little non-pro saws Andy??? Is it stamped in the plastic somewhere?? Or is that just by the stickers.?.? I knew you'd know. Thanks brotha... They cut me off or I'd rep ya...

yep.. all stamped.

The MS290 I traded for my 441 was etched into the plastic on the bar side of the case. Guess you could call that a stamp. There was no brass or whatever it is with a stamped ID # like older and Pro saws.
