I have one of those handy dandy stove top thermometers and was wondering if anyone runs their stove above the recommended zone on the thermometer which is about 525 degrees? I am aware of overfiring and creosote buildup but was wondering if there was a margin.

Thanks Richard. My wife panics when it starts to get near the overfire zone. I once told her that if the stove overheated it would implode. She kept a keen eye on it from then on.
