There is versatility on the internet. But I'd like to bring one site into the picture - its the Garden Web . com I don't like it all that much, but it provides a reality check. Sometimes you need to look at a champion, to know what championship is about; even if you wish the winner was another. Being a champion can be due to being the first to succeed.

The Garden Web is so big, that the Library of Congress included it in their internet resources, even though the Library's policy is to exclude commercial sites. A link checker shows BACK-LINKS to Garden Web . com as follows...

354,000 total backlinks - Google > 32,000 - Yahoo, Etc. 277,000 & MSN > 45,000

That's more than the backlinks on the internet to TARGET, MARTHA STEWART and NAPSTER. Its 3 times Macy' 102,000 backlinks, and 4 times greater than ETrade.com At this point in time, nobody is going to bring-down the Garden Web's lead. Its the touchstone, whether we like it or not. They got a jump on the game.

And look at ABORISTSITE. For just focusing on trees, ArboristSite has an impressive 59,000 backlinks. AboristSite likewise has a great edge. It is established in a way that secures its title for years.

So, go ahead and optimize your websites, because its the right thing to do.

The search engine "buzz" has become like the gold rushes: thousands went looking, only to go bust. A small percentage of people got rich. Its not that the gold wasn't there. The problem was everybody expecting too much of it. It's going to boil down to how many people are "panning" for the rankings in your area, and who got a head start. NO city in the world, has unlimited treasures of top search engine results.
