We have a large (10-m high, 30-year old) star Pine (araucaria heterphylla) in a high-wind area that could conceivably fall onto a structure (it is leaning significantly, but appears to be growing more and more toward vertical). Our local tree person proposes to remove the top 2.5 m and shorten the branches on the downhill side. Is this wise? What should be done?
Thanks!
