Hi all,

I've been lurking on this site for a bit trying to figure out what type of tree has fallen on our property. I live in northern Chester County PA which is in the southeast corner of the state. We're zone 6B. When looking at the bark it looks like it's ash but it splits entirely different to ash. My thoughts are that it's a poplar of some sort but I'm basing that off of one picture of split wood I've seen on this forum. There's this "waviness" to the wood that makes it seem like there are a bunch of knots in it. I've attached a bunch of pictures below in the hopes it can be identified. It was also growing near a creek. We're just trying to figure out if we can use it for firewood. Any help is appreciated and if I need to take more or better pictures I can.

Thanks,
Matt
