Was the owner you????????????

Nope- but it was a local "MR Green" franchise holder- basically a yard and garden caretaking business type arrangement= not sure what the equivalent might be over there- I kept the clutch bell to show folk when they are needing replaced! :p

You can run that a bit longer, once you see a witness mark in the “valley” it’s time to replace. In other words, when the driver begins to make contact with the valley of the spur gear it should be replaced.

For pretty long time was looking for such advice.Stihl recommends that when the marks on the teeth have more than 0.5 mm depth the spur sprocket has to be replaced .
My Stihl dealer though insisted that this is bs and that the spur sprocket has a longer life than just wearing two chains ( the 4-2-1 "rule" ) .But that did not provide any clue as to when exactly is time for replacing .
Thank you ,sir !
