Does anyone know what fungus this is? It was found on a Laurel Oak in Central Florida. The fungus gives off small clouds of spores when touched. I have seen a similar fungus before on an oak, but in its later stages. The fungus I believe turns black and hard. It appears to attack the vascular system of the tree, ultimatley removing the bark and killing the tree. Both tree were located in waterlogged or over watered areas.
I do not know the answer to this question so any feedback would be welcomed. Thanks
