Last April, I planted about 100 2-year old conifer saplings. At planting, I noticed this white spruce had co-dominant stems, but decided not to prune it, wanting to avoid causing issues its first year in the ground.
The question now is, when will be best to prune this co-dominant stem while ensuring the greatest chance of success for the tree?
I'm located in Central Iowa.
