I've been using a 30:1 hose end sprayer to spray 12-16 foot trees at 60 psi... it's way too much at around 3 gallons per minute. Most all of what I have found for backpack sprayers are targeted for 'turf' use, not trees. I'm on residences that have electric access, are'nt there any portable 1gpm sprayers for trees that are reasonably priced and/or ac powered ?

In a pinch you can use a "trombone sprayer" but 16foot might be too tall. I use a trombone sprayer for our fruit trees but they are mostly 8-10 feet. The main problem is to get more height out of the sprayer you have to adjust the stream narrower. The website https://www.sprayerdepot.com/ has a lot to choose from in 12v pumps and a few 120v as well

Are these strong enough ?

Regarding Sprayerdepot, yes I've been there and got lost in the spray jungle, that's why I came here... for a recommendation from someone who has experience spraying trees for residential non-agricultural use.

Most of what I saw was at or over 2 gpm and not portable. Maybe a 5 gallon bucket transfer pump on a wheelbarrel... but I prefer to buy and not DIY if possible. *Update: Called sprayerdepot direct, no solutions available that meet my requirements.

Thank you.

Admittedly I prefer to DIY because off-the-shelf solutions are rarely adequate and if they are adequate then usually too expensive. My experience with pumps has been that the paper spec for GPM is with 0' lift and 0' head so that by the time you attach hose and a spray attachment the actual GPM is sometimes a lot less. Plus, higher GPM typically means you can work faster because you can thoroughly spray a large tree or other much faster. It's kind of like with pressure washers where one model might be 3500psi at 2.0gpm and another 3500psi at 4.0gpm--same cleaning power but one will take a lot longer to do the same job.

You could always go for the Stihl Backpack sprayer/blower. I've used them and they do put out a lot of mist with some force behind it. I've never used anything exactly like the products you linked to but I'm just very skeptical of manufacturers' claims. If I had one or two smallish trees to spray then I might care less about how long it takes but when there are a lot of trees or very broad and bushy trees, think spraying a huge citrus tree, then I want high GPM at high pressure so I can get the job done better and in less time. Of course I was only spraying mixtures that were non-toxic so I was not concerned with overspray or getting it on myself.

Thank you for your input. After much review, the "Backpack sprayer category" I linked to seem to be only targeted for turf. It's hard to believe I can use such an inexpensive hose end sprayer https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08BR4ZTW9/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
to get the job done... I was hoping for a more controllable device, it soaks everything way too much but I can reach 18 feet no problem and the suction ratio from the venturri is consistent. At residential faucet PSI 60 the 32 Oz. container runs out at 8.5-9 gallons, so 1 Tablespoon fertilizer per gallon (9 total) in the container and fill the rest with water and surfactant... shake & spray. OK, maybe a more sophisticated affordable method will pop up some day. Best regards.

P.S. I'm new here... did I post in the most appropriate forum for this question ?
