Yeah, I know it's a piece of junk. But it's not mine:clap: A friend put it up last year running fine. He pulled it out this year and it won't start. Compression is 150. The fuel is fresh. I went through the carb, fuel lines, and intake manifold and got it running last week. I pulled the limiter caps on the carb, retuned it, then reinstalled the caps with the tabs cut off. I drained my fuel from it and returned it home with him. Guess what. It won't start again. Now I can't even get it to run at all. I even went through the fuel lines again and can't find anything wrong. BTW, there's no impulse line on this thing since it's a passage in the intake manifold. What gives?

Is it sparking? It's not uncommon for the coils to go bad on those saws, flywheel key sheared?

I had a 2000 where the needle wasn’t moving off the seat. I bent the aluminum tang a little bit and it runs fine…well better anyway. Might be worth a look.

Are you sure it's getting impulse? Sometimes those passages in the manifold clog with crap. Also make sure fuel is getting through the carb, pull on it a few times and then pull the carb and see if any fuel has gotten into it and how far it got before it stopped. I am hardly the master Poulan tech but thats where I would start.

only way to start a 2150

the mighty 2150 i can tell you how to start it. that was my first saw. i still have it. it starts and idles great but thats about it shes all done.

anyway its a pos brand new that we all know but heres the trick to starting it. first the saw must be kept warm. if its cold forget it! then you have to press the primer bulb at least 20-30 times. after that you have to rub it on your crotch a few times and tell it you love it and talk dirty a little to it. after you do all that choke it pull it a few times. push the choke back in and it should fire up before you run out of breath.

its funny cuse thats how much of a bastard it was to start when it would actually cut wood. now the way mine sits right now it starts just like a new saw lol. i cant explain it it just does.

I've been through the carb. I've also had the manifold off. So everything's clean there.

Those are notorious for not getting enough fuel. I think there is an orifice someplace deep in the carb that can be drilled out one size bigger and it will get enough fuel to perform a lot better. I think I read that on another messageboard awhile back.

you say it dont want to start and has 150 psi compression and blue spark and getting fuel but still wont start correct ?

behind the carburetor is a carb adapter plate that goes between the carb and the cylinder now there is two screws that go into the cylinder from the carb side of that adapter what you need to do is take and make sure them screws are tight and not loose at all cause what it sounds like is that adapter plate may be loose or could have a air leak somewhere hair line crack in the adapter itself

i have seen this same scenerio many times in my area since that is all walmart sales is poulan 2150s mostly
but i all the time have them running in less than 5 minutes cause that is exactily the symptoms i hear when people tell me they did this and did that but it still dont run i take the carb off and tighten them screws down on that adapter and put the carb back on and start the saw and it stays running

see what happens is the vibration causes the screws to turn loose from the cylinder so therefore creating a gap to where it wont stay running

calvin

if the adapter is tight check the fuel filter in the tank make sure it is not plugged up
been working on poulans for at least 8 years under warranty

those filters are not that expensive $2.50 530095646

The fuel filter's clean. I had the adapter plate off to clean and inspect it. The bolts are very snug, as well as the carb bolts. It seems as though the engine's not getting any fuel. What are the base settings for the carb needles? I cut the tabs off the limiter caps.

After looking at the IPL For the Type 2, I would guess that the purge/primer bulb is not working.

I had all that off too. After having the carb off and all the lines empty, a couple pushes on the bulb and all the lines are full and primed. So that can't be it either.

Perhaps the adapter is cracked or one of the gaskets is leaking. None of the gaskets are ripped but obviously they're used.
