Is there any way, muffler mod for example, to get near 200T performance out of the LIGHT and cheap 192 T? Just curious because I think this would be a fun and worthwhile project. One can't ignore the near one poind less weight either. Hopefully it would not involve re-working the bore and stroke to get more power.

i wood imagine a muffler mod wood make it alot closer but i dont think you can make up the torque difference being the 192 is 30.1cc and the 200 at 35.2. i saw a 200 at the dealers yesterday at $699.99 cdn and i almost shat
i dont understand why it's so much. personally i'd go with a echo cs-360t at 36.3cc and 8.1 lbs bailey's has em for 289.95 you could buy two of em and still be cheaper than the stihl, and i dont think the .4 difference in weight makes that much difference and i'm pretty sure a muffler mod on the echo will push it beyond the 200t's performance capabilities.

FOR PERFORMANCE, 200T's INSTANTLY BLOW THE PUNY 360T AND 192T WELL AND TRULY INTO OBLIVION

JON69, I've run all 3, the 200T's a class of it's own, big bucks - $1600 down here, worth it only because they're the best you can get

200T is only worth $$$ if you climb... hands down the best climbing saw made.

just sold a 192T, felt under powered. didn't even think to muffler mod it before selling.

The 200T has amazing power for its size. The 192T does not compare. I did open mine up a bit, and it did make a difference, but still no comparison. It turns at 14K WOT, and I just don't think it would last very long that way. 200T is THE tree saw. Better off checking out tomnytoys on eflake, he has sold several new ones, and they typically go around five bills. Just have someone stateside get it for you and get it to you somehow.

The 009 is useable in the tree, it is 37 cc and as torquey but not as fast as the 200T, IMO.............

I pulled the spark arrestor out of mine and tached it after break in and it was believe it or not set pretty rich. I don't have a 200 but I use the smaller chain and keep it razor sharp and it will get through hardwoods up to it's barsize if you let it cut and don't push it. I was using a 372 witha 20" in the bucket but I recently purchased a 211 that is every bit the performer of the 200 at half the price. I admit the 200 has a place just not with me at $600 when I don't climb and can buy two saws for the price of the 200t. I actually seen a hack tree service at my neighbors who obviously can't stand me because they didn't offer the bid to me taking down a 75ft maple using/climbing with a wild thing. I figure if he makes that work I am way better equipped with my cheap plastic stihls.

I've hacked on trees 4 a spell of yrs. many trees many saws. Took a big gulp and made the purchase of a 200 last year $600+change. If I was 2 go out and drop that saw out of a tree or some one coon it etc. Yes... I would go get another one even @$700. They r that great!

good to know i may bite the bullet and get one then. going to get back into climbing as i picked up a side job after hours and weekends with a local tree company.

Ok I am going to give ya my feelings on the 200t. Is it worth the price, well I feel it should be cheaper imo 450. I have ran many top handles and a stock 200t lags until you pull the screen and baffle out and get the nonkickback chain, I think Thall said it was 63pm chain. After the mods it is a true performer but still feel 450.00 would be a more realistic price for it. I recently
bought a 192 because I am out of town and needed two climb saws, at first I did not like the 192 but after a chain swap it is a fair limber. I soon will mod it as well and when I bought it I wanted a 338 husky but could not find one here in north AR. I think it was 3 something for the 192 and time will tell how much they are truly worth. I all depends on what you expect from this saw ,it does have decent power but if I am making a jump cut on a large limb the 372 comes up the tree. I so far am happy with my 200 but it was priced more than its worth imo.

As far as the pricing. From what I was told, and honestly do not remember if it was a Stihl employee or not, Stihl self ensures. They have worked out the liability needed to cover each saw, based on the number of incidents and payout per.

Those additional dollars you are paying for the 200T are based on just that. A higher rate of incident for that model. Made sense to me, just don't know if it's actually the case or not. Either way based on performance, worth the price of admission.

Would the PS-3410TH be a good compromise between a 192t and a 200t?
On paper, it's lighter than the 200t, 10% less power, and a couple of hundred less $$$. Looks like the price comes in between the PS-510 and 5100s.

Edit:
I was surprised to find out the 3410 is a clamshell engine:

Yeah I agree pretty much lawyer fees as is all inflation lol. I am just old school and want to see prices and overhead balance to the work done and paid for and unfortunately tree work has too much expense imo.

Not sure how your Liability and/or Comp rates are factored in your State. In NY I was paying close to 42%. Liability for a Landscraper ran about $1,100 per year. For Tree work it was a percentage of total reciepts...way more than that $1,100, like 8-10x's as much. Could you do tree work for less if those expenses were lower?

Insurance, overhead, labor, tipping fee's, property taxes, etc...they are all factors in the cost of all business. Businesses do not pay those expenses, the consumer does...the company just happens to write the check.

I bought a ms200t last year for 580.00 out the door 16" bar included. 700.00 sounds like your dealer is getting greedy. however i wouldn't't like it but i would give 700.00 for a 200t. i compared it to the 338xpt or whatever the big tophandle husquvarna is, and there was no comparison in balance. i did not run the husq. just tried holding it in diff pos not for me.

I bought a new one last year, and paid a little under $600 for it, CDN.
