This has got to be one of the most stupid threads ever. The reason the saw tips over is because it is narrow. This result is from being one of the most powerful small saws. Please sign me up for a 346, even if it tips over. Stupid!

It's probably just the way this topic was presented from a Stihl Heads point of view. Usually with any popular model accessories are sure to follow.
I would take that pattern to someone with a flame cutter, they might really do a nice job. Personally I like the single dog myself.

 Funny you started this thread Brad, I was just looking through the shop yesterday for a "sacrificial spike" for this very same project. I wanted the dual spikes but I didn't want anything bigger than the stock 357 spike. Setteled on a 372 spike as well and plan to cut it out to match the 357 inner.

I'm thinking of a small Stihl style roller chain catcher on mine though.

I like your idea Erick. I have no idea what I did with my stock 372 spikes. I just sold this extra set of big dawgs today, thinking I'd never need them. Oh well:) Guess I'll have to order another one. $15.34. 503719701

Well, from what I've learned on this site the 346 is absolutely perfectly engineered in every sense.lol
I suspect it's just a matter of time until other manufacturers figure out what these Swedish engineers are up to and begin building saws that also fail to stand upright.Ron

I have a nice 330 Homelite (rear cylinder)that sits perfectly. I will let it go for $475.00 Then I can get a saw that falls over.

If you people would just stick the tip of the bar in the ground you would not need a fancy kickstand. Also, if you are making a kick stand for it you might as well put some streamers on the front handle and fab up a sissy bar for the banana seat mounted to the rear handle.

Opps, that was the Dolmar. Hey, rub the Dolmar and the Husky together real fast and leave them together in a dark room. When you come back the next day you will have a 362 but the Dolmar and Husky will be busted up like something ripped out of the Dolmar and chewed on the Husky.

You can do the same with a Echo and a Efco but you get a Mcculloch weed wacker so it is kind of a waste, sort of.

you have a vivid imagination.............
or some really good booze!

Everyones tastes are different but I like actually am used to double dawgs and like them a lot its part of my cutting style I need them now.

So when I saw my new 346 had only one I was kinda dissapointed but got over it since the saw more than makes up for that in gityupgo and now Brad has imo put the as to now unmentioned uhumm tipping problem on track I feel better however I dont want huge dawgs on my saw (hint) and I dont want another bar and chain change I just did switch to 3/8.

I hope a small dawg can be figured out I am in 100%. :)

I agree with Brncreeper, I would find somebody with a plasma table. I had some made out of Stainless steel for my 445 and 372. Does not take very long.
He also owned me a favor so it didn't cost me anything.
Just photo copied and faxed to him, he scans into computer, viola.

Here is an idea since my chain catcher was broke already this will take its place and act as a stabilizer of sorts the stock screw is 1/4" too short thats my only concern at this point.

That's a beautiful idea if you don't want to add an outer spike!

Great idea, I'm headed to the shop. Mine's so new, I didn't know it was a problem though.

It's a result of the design and what ends up touching a flat surface on the bottom. Has nothing to do with it being narrow.

I have lots of narrow saws, including a 346 which I love. I find it annoying I can't simply set it down on a stump and know it will stay put.

I don't lose sleep over it, but I did stick something underneath to help the issue. In my work I maybe pickup and set down saws more than most. Like switching saws.

I'm working on it, Erick may have something before me though. Post up Erick!

Well it took me long enough but I finally got a round tuit. :)

Actually I finished the spikes shortly after this thread went dormant but I just now got around to taking some pics for another post so I thought I'd drag this thread back up and show'em off here too. :D

Eventually I'll probably extend the outer spike down to line up and support both sides of the roller chain catcher like the Stihls use. I personally like the Stihl set-up better, but for now factory Husky style works... no more "little tippy".

(sorry about the big pics.. can't find my little Sony I usually use for pics here so I had to use the Nikon)

And of course the obligatory gratuitous poser shot.
