(Seriously, I saw a 2077 on craigslist listed as a Johnson Red)

I was given this nice 63 cc model 630 last week by a pal, it just showed up on my doorstep with a couple of new chains and files. He said it needed a carb kit, so I put one in the other night and WOW this old girl can really git her done! You can feel the torque shifting the housing as you rev it.

It arrived just in time for firewood season. I have a Jonsered 2065 I got cheap and am rebuilding that is now surplus and I will likely end up selling it.

Congrats on the 630 it is on my want list. I hear they are great saws. What about the 2077. My 2077 is my favorite saw. I would like to find another one.

630=61cc Great saws the only on of that Jonsered family with no external impulse line to fail!!

Hey i just noticed you have a Lombard "Little Lightening"!!! You wouldn't per chance know of any parts or parts saws around your area???? I need a muffler in the worst way. I have one from a SXLAO fudged on it now but would really like to find the correct one for it.

There are a lot of 630/670 in Vermont. Great saws.
I've heard Johnson Red quite a bit, but real VTer's say Jones-E-Red.
The first time I went to a dealer other than the one that used to be near me, they laughed at me.

Well, the correct version is Jon-se-red - simple as that, Mr Jones doesn't belong there!

I didn't mean that Jones-E-Red was the correct way. It's just the way I, and everyone around me, said it. I noticed that the OP was from Vermont, so I thought he might have heard that as well.

To explain, Vermonters do have peculiar regional pronunciations for foreign words. For a French word for example one generally really punches the syllables the French normally drop- so Dubois is pronounced Dew-BOYS, a town near me Charlotte isn't pronounced like the one in North Carolina- it's SHAR-lot. But it's a little more complex, there is a deliberate fudging that's a regional art form. Charlebois becomes Charlie-BOYS, culdesac CULLY-sack. Jones-e-red fits right in with this theme.

"John sheful" however I cannot explain.

We also use sugar as a verb.
