I would say you want it to be like anything else. 150psi+ More the better.:greenchainsaw:

My new Baileys gauge should be here today, I have five XL's im going to list soon, I'll let you know what I find for an average. I think 140 should be good for an XL.

I have 2 at 120 & 1 at 130Lbs, the one 130Lbs was just bought and as supposed to have 160Lbs? shocker I guess LOL

Do they run well? If they do I wouldn't worry about it. I never checked the XL I had before I sold it but now I have a super 2 to play with I'll have to check it.

One was running, but tore it down when it got fussy to run, it had all kinds of power, but I pulled it down and discovered no air filter, I have no idea, to tell you the truth I got the saw 10 to 15 years ago, cleaned it up and it has run flawless, but have been using it a lot and looked up parts and found it is supposed to have a air filter on it, ( I KNOW STUPID ME) The others don't run, trying to mix and match to get a couple of them running, but all need carb kits, just trying to find a base line to start with

ALSO FORGOT TO MENTION FOUND THAT THE REED PLATE WAS NOT CLOSING ALLTHE WAY, I SUSPECT THAT IS WHY IT WAS RUNNING BAD, IAM NOT YELLING I CANT FIND THE CAP BUTTON

Thanks

Xl-2................135 psi
Runs good but sucking air at WOT and has .029" crank endplay.

Eager Beaver 2.0 top handle......................145 psi
Saw is like new with very little use.

Eager Beaver 2014 2.0........................135 psi
I was thinking this one needed a P&C but not anymore.

Craftsman/Poulan 36cc...........................125 psi
Average used saw. Runs excellent.
Real shocker as it is the newest model. Possibility it has a lower compression ratio than the older types for junk gas.

Method:
Used my Craftsman guage w/hose and cranked untill the guage needle stopped going up. All at room temp. Throttle blocked open, natch.

The 427 in my vet cranks 175-180 psi and C.R. is 9:1. Cam duration is not longish.

Forgot to add: Guage is a Craftsman w/16" hose & scharder valve on end.

I was worried mine was low on compression and it didnt run right last time I started it up. Well just checked with my new gauge and all I could get was 100psi cold. This saw didnt have an air filter either im guessing the rings are pretty bad.
