stihl 250 -$400
husky 445- $430
What is the better deal?
Which one will last longer with less trouble and which one has the most power?

I would go for the 445, they have got a few good reviews on here. I had a 250 once, it wasn't up to much, it had way too many problems for my liking.

I don't have any personal experience with the 435, but I think the MS250 is a very good lightweight, durable, and dependable saw for the money.

Also consider the Dolmar 420. When converted to .325 chain it well run with either and is better built!

From them 2, Id have to go with the 445...and there about 100.00 cheeper in the states.

445, last I looked (US prices)

They are around $300 in the box stores, some recon units may still
be available for $200 delivered off Flea-Bay.

300.00 at lowes or tractor supply.

OK, I get what you're saying now... I thought you were saying they were $100 cheaper than the equivalent Stihl in the US... now I get it; carry on!

I think the 250 was in the $230 range, but they dropped the price recently; I'm guessing it's because it's an "obsolete" model.

Ditto. I had an 025 and it was okay until someone dropped an 8" limb on it. My BIL had a 250 that never did run right. Finally got it replaced, and the new one was the same way. He finally gave up on it and bought a 455, and he has been very impressed with it.

Keep in mind that this is hard for me to say as I am a Stihl man :)

Wow. Going from a 10lb 50cc to a nearly 13.5 lb 55 cc and he's impressed? I may have some stuff to sell him.

The ranch I work on has an ms250. You can mod the muffler so it has a straight shot out and still keep the screen. It runs strong and has taken a decent amount of abuse(I felled, bucked, and stumped a 20" Birch with it just to see if it could do it). I would rather have this ms250 than an ms290. I'd rather have a 261 or a 346 than either, tho.

A lot of people seem to like the husky 346xp. What is there strong points?
The price around here is crazy. Sounds like they are selling in $450 range in the US. Is this correct??? If so anybody selling them online and shipping to Canada?

.....

Actually it is from 45 to 55cc, and the weight numbers you posted is a bit off as well, but there still is a 2 lbs + difference.

The saws aren't really comparable, and both are among the models I don't care for.

There selling in the 480 to 510 range in my area. Dont think you can buy them online, new anyways. There was a fella yesterday from canada that had a friend in the states get him a 346xp. Think he said about 500.00 for the saw and I think the shipping was 32.00 or close.

445/o25

Seeing as happen own both, I would have to go with the 445. It has a better anti vibration, is quieter, and uses less mix. The O25 does have it's good side. I use it on occasions with one hand, and with a 16 BC it is surprisingly well balanced however with a MM it is just a tad noisy. In the power department I would give the O25 just a bit of an edge, Keen

The 445 is quite a bit down on stated power vs. the 345 it replaced, so it doesn't surprice me if the 025/250 is stronger - those are not "strato" designs, so it also is natural that they use more fuel.

I maintain that the Dolmar 420 is a better option than both, if he can find a dealer.
