HUSQVARNA 365 sp

hello all,

first off i would like to introduce myself here,i am from republic of ireland munster region
and we get some very cold winters i am a builder been in the family buisness all my life,but the global recession
put a damper on that line of work it has all but stopped,so i have a second buisness and that is solid fuel supply,i sell firewood and coal and it is a booming thriving buisness for me thank god.


anyway,i started in to the firewood game around 4 years ago,didn't know much about saws until up till recently
to be honest.

here is a little history about my firewood,i started off with a tiny oleomac saw 280 i think,it was good but i quickly learned
i needed something bigger,i was mainly at this time cutting forest spruce which i buy from local forestry companies.


this is as you know a soft wood,then i bought a second saw,it was maybe 14 years old when i got it,paid 400euros
for it,but it was like new a husqvarna 61,it is a powerfull chainsaw,i loved it,but a year ago it stopped oiling the
chain so i got sick of it,couldn't get parts at the time fast enough so i laid down 850euros for a brand new husqvarns 365sp
wow,this is one hell of a great saw,bought it from a genuine husqvarna shop,as i almost got burnt with a china copy
before i got this one. very pleased with this saw,it has maybe 80tonnes of wood cut now and still as new.

(just two days ago i finished my old 61 and gave it to my father,put a new oil pump and worm gear on it)
it's now perfect again.

i now cut ash and sell it,along with the spruce,i maintain the saw myself along with file sharpening the chain
i use the husqvarna low smoke oil @ a ratio of 100mill to 5 liters.i use a 24" bar with chizzel 3/8th chain

oregon bar,the saw is just brilliant,i bought an air compressor also to maintain it,i greese up the bar tip before
any days cutting as this would be a long day,also greesing the roller bearing and cleaning out the lot with compressed air.

IMO it is very important to clean out the bar and saw on a regular basis,along with keeping the chain
razor sharp. i use all the gear (unless it's too hot then the pance is not worn) i use the husky trousers
and helmet & gloves.


so what's you're opinions on this saw??

i presume the engine is maintainence free for years?

I surely like mine. Great bang for your buck. Upgradeable for more power if you think necessary! Shares many parts with Huskys 362, 372. I cut firewood for my own use, so its perfect for me, your needs may differ however.

It's a good saw. I had a one, sold it to a friend that needed a bigger saw. He loves it. It's not far behind the 372. The specials are close ported, Same lay out as the 372 with a smaller bore.

Just be aware that there are some fake Chinese ones that look very close floating around of E-bay etc....

They are a smooth saw plenty of power i run a 20inB/C on mine used it almost a year now no issues what so ever.

Not the fastest saw out there but very torqy it is a worthy purchase IMO. I run mine with a 24" B/C in a wide variety of wood species daily.

i gave the 61 to m dad,a mighty saw also,i am cutting firewood for years and sell it along with coal,it's my buisness
solid fuels.

already this saw has cut 80tonnes of firewood (aprox) and it's flying...

i maintain the saw myself,cleaning it with compressed air and greesing it up regularly around the roller bearing
and tip of bar.i run a 24" oregon bar. runs awesome!!

my main question is any engine maintainence to be done with these saws in time??

yes ALSO i know well of the china clones,i bought this in a reputable husky dealership brand new.

I have the jonsered version the 2165 and it is one of my favorite saws to use. I usually use a 20 but sometimes use a 24 on it. I have done quite a bit of noodling with it and it does that quite well also.

Great saw and will last you a long time with some basic maintenance. When cutting softwoods with a lot of sap, make sure you keep your cylinder fins clean, plus your air filter. When you wear out your oregon bar, look for something else. I use GB bars made in Australia, but they are out of business now! Use a full synthetic 2 stroke mix like sthil ultra or what every is available in the UK. I've great reviews of aspen premixed petrol!

The 365 is basically the same saw as the 372XP, but with a smaller piston, different cylinder, smaller air filter and low top cover.

The rings will wear out at some point. It just depends on how much you use the saw and the kind of care you put into maintaining the saw. Use high quality 2 stroke oil with high octane petrol. Use stabil with your premix to keep moisture at bay and use up your premix with 3-4 weeks. The saw will last a very long time.

Here in the US, we have the 362XP and the 365. Both are rated @ 4.6 HP. I am not sure why husky sells them both because they are pretty close price wise. I am guessing it is the a marketing guys job to confuse the consumers.

The 365 is basically the same saw as the 372XP, but with a smaller piston, different cylinder, smaller air filter and low top cover.

The large (HD) filter and cover really is an option on the 372xp as well, even though it is more or less standard in the US. At least the older 365s lacks the quick realease filter cover, and have an open port cylinder and a lower capasity Zama carb.
I believe the "Special" designation mainly was about the change to a side access chain tensioner, and didn't coincide exactly with the other changes.....
